Work Title:
Pomegranate Peel Dyeing on Cotton — Third Dyeing Layer
Objective:
The third dyeing layer in a multi-stage (layered) dyeing process is applied to enhance colour depth and tonal complexity. This stage focuses on intensifying previously developed hues by introducing a final, relatively darker layer. Through this process, the fabric gradually attains higher saturation, often resulting in a rich deep yellow tone, commonly described as “old gold yellow.”
Methodological Note (Layer-by-Layer Approach):
The Layer-by-Layer (LbL) dyeing method involves the sequential application of oppositely charged components—typically anionic dye molecules derived from natural sources and cationic fixing agents (natural mordants). This alternating deposition facilitates the formation of a stable, multi-layered colour structure on the cotton substrate, thereby improving dye fixation, uniformity, and long-term colour fastness.
